Television House in 1991
In August 1991 Tallinn’s Television House helped keep the public informed during profound uncertainty.
During the coup attempt, television was more than background noise: continuing broadcasts gave viewers information and a way to follow events together. Staff at the Gonsiori Street studios worked amid a real threat to communications infrastructure. The TV Tower and Television House were separate locations with connected roles, and their stories should not be collapsed into one scene. Outside the present building, consider the people both on screen and behind the cameras whose work kept public communication alive.
