Adolf-Hitler-Straße
Under German occupation, a section of Narva Road bore Hitler’s name, turning an address into a message of power.
Renaming a street is a direct way to bring ideology into daily life. During the German occupation, part of Narva Road carried the dictator’s name, so even using an address repeated a symbol chosen by the occupying authorities. The name disappeared after the regime changed. The street needs no recreated sign to tell that history: its former name reveals how power tried to reorder the language and memory of the city.
