Tallinn Prison Murders of 1941
Accounts of prisoners killed during the retreat of 1941 in Tallinn must be checked event by event and person by person.
The summer of 1941 brought military retreat, collapsing authority and violence to Tallinn. When describing crimes against detainees, it matters who the victims were, when an event occurred and which institution was responsible. A general map point for the city does not prove that a particular basement was an execution site or establish a victim count. Detailed archival work is an act of respect for the dead and their families, not a way of diminishing the crime.

Treat the Tallinn point as a broad historical topic. Do not assign an incident or victim to a particular house without evidence.
