Temporary NKVD Detention Sites
The NKVD used different detention spaces in Tallinn in 1940–1941, and each address needs separate verification.
During the first Soviet occupation, security agencies operated detention facilities in multiple buildings. The phrase NKVD cellar in a story can refer to different places and events. Assigning every account to one familiar address would obscure the real routes taken by detainees. A map point in the city centre represents a network to be researched, not proof that the adjacent building was a prison. A reliable list requires archival evidence for each case.
Practical information
Address: Tallinna kesklinn
Treat the central map point as a broad area marker. Do not attribute NKVD activity to a particular building without documentation.
