Restricted Zone at Lake Ülemiste

Lake Ülemiste is both a major landscape in Tallinn and a drinking-water source whose shores are not freely accessible.

The city lake can look like an ordinary recreation area, yet its water forms part of daily drinking-water supply. Access to the lake and sections of the shore is therefore restricted. Follow current signs and official information rather than old photographs or maps when assessing the boundaries. The combination of visibility and limited access creates an unusual urban space: nature is close, but its use is shaped by the shared need for clean water.
