Military Zone at Mine Harbour

Miinisadam recalls how a harbour within a city can serve the military and remain closed to ordinary visitors.

Some of Tallinn’s waterfront has been shaped by naval work rather than public travel. Around Miinisadam, governments and fleets changed, but a military boundary continued to mark a different kind of access from an ordinary street. A quay visible on a map is not necessarily a pedestrian route. From a lawful public viewpoint, consider the place of naval infrastructure in the city without assuming that every surviving building served the same fleet or purpose.
