Tall Hermann Tower
The Estonian flag above Tall Hermann gives an old defensive tower a present-day national meaning.
Built as part of Toompea Castle’s defences, Tall Hermann has witnessed changes of government and occupation. The flag flown from its summit became a public sign of authority and Estonian independence, especially charged when the country was denied self-rule.
