Noblessner Foundry
Noblessner Foundry recalls the skilled, dangerous work behind the heavy machinery of shipbuilding.
A foundry shaped molten metal into components needed by shipyards and other industries. The work demanded experience, tolerance of intense heat and attention to safety. Now used for events and exhibitions, the old industrial building has a different atmosphere, although its scale and construction can hint at its former purpose. The manufacturing story of any particular object needs industrial records, rather than a guess based on bare walls. The foundry brings workers back into the history of Noblessner’s naval production.
