Jerusalem Hill Execution Site
Jeruusalemma Hill is linked to accounts of executions under Toompea’s court, but its historical topography needs checking.
Punishment ordered by Toompea’s authorities did not always end at the castle or courtroom. The Jeruusalemma Hill area has been associated with executions beyond the densely built centre. Yet old place names and the later streets around Tõnismägi do not correspond neatly. Without an early plan and a source for a particular case, a modern map point cannot be called a confirmed gallows site. The story shows how a landscape of punishment can disappear beneath a later city.
