Underground Passages of Toompea
Toompea has real cellars and defensive passages, but claims of a citywide secret network need evidence.
Cellars and underground connections from different periods exist in Toompea’s buildings and fortifications. They served particular structures or defensive needs. In folklore, an unseen space can turn a short passage into an imagined route stretching for kilometres. A single network linking everything cannot be placed on a map merely by assumption. Underground Tallinn becomes more interesting when measured structures are distinguished from stories about hidden routes.
