Cellars of Stenbock House

The lower levels of Stenbock House support a building raised on the slope of Toompea and hold part of its structural story.

From Rahukohtu Street, Stenbock House presents a formal facade. Its lower floors and cellars also perform a practical task, tying the large building to the changing ground beneath it. Basements may inspire stories of secret passages, but such claims need evidence. The less visible structural foundation is already a compelling part of the architectural history of Toompea’s steep terrain.
