Renthof, or Rent Tower
Renthof, also known as Rent Tower, is a lost piece of Tallinn’s defences preserved in historical maps.
Near Rannamäe Road, there may be nothing on the street that clearly identifies the former tower. The story of Renthof survives chiefly in old plans and place names. It shows that the defensive system once extended beyond the sections of wall visible today. Compare the modern street with an older map: the missing tower becomes part of what the place has to tell.
