Town Hall Pharmacy

The Town Hall Pharmacy links six centuries of pharmacy history with medicine, alchemy and urban legend.

The Town Hall Pharmacy was recorded in 1422 and is regarded as Europe’s oldest pharmacy to have operated continuously in the same premises. Alongside medicinal plants, it once sold substances that now seem strange: animal ingredients, spices and preparations associated with alchemy. Ten generations of the Burchart family ran the pharmacy. This is not merely an old shop, but a living connection between medieval healing and modern Tallinn.
