Tallinn Witch Trials
Accusations of witchcraft carried fear, neighbourhood tensions and interrogations into Tallinn’s courts.
When illness, misfortune or a conflict resisted explanation, suspicion could fall on a person accused of witchcraft. Such rumours became especially dangerous when brought before a court and recorded as testimony. Town Hall Square represents the town’s judicial authority here, not a verified room for one particular trial. Each case needs its own source; the existence of an accusation does not establish that any supernatural act took place.
